Training Program Career Path

The training program is designed to help build the proper knowledge, skills, and abilities through a strategic career path. It does not guarantee any advancement to any proceeding position in the program. The length of time to advance through the program in each role will vary by individual. 

Quality Assurance Representative I

Working in the Quality Assurance Department exposes new employees to a deeper understanding of the final home product, customers’ expectations, and all warranty activities. This stage of the program provides hands-on experience with homes closing at 100% complete, educating homeowners about simple maintenance, and working with customers regarding warranty enquiries. Advancement is expected within 12 months.

Construction Manager I 

The Construction Manager I is a hands-on training position that prepares an individual for advancement to higher level Construction Manager positions. The Construction Manager I trains under a Senior Construction Manager Trainer to gradually take on responsibilities and additional expectations. As a trainee, the Construction Manager I will learn responsibility for planning, organizing and directing the construction of assigned homes while meeting the company’s objectives of performance, cost, quality, and safety.  Advancement is expected in 6 months.  

Construction Manager II

The new Construction Manager II must be able to oversee the construction of assigned homes and operate with reasonable supervision of the Senior Construction Manager Trainer. This includes the daily coordination of all on site activities of the construction schedule, supervising all field personnel and to successfully complete homes on schedule and within budget.  This also includes maintaining the highest quality while driving good construction practices and safety.  From Plan Review through Final Walk Through, the Construction Manager II is the customer’s primary point of contact and responsible for delivering on the company Mission to the customer during the construction process.

Expectations and Essential Duties

  • On the job training will be provided for reading and understanding house plans and plot plans
  • Fluency with material and structural components associated with home building
  • Effective construction scheduling while identifying and solving problems before they affect critical path to on time delivery
  • Commands respect of customers and vendors through consistent delivery of commitments and expectations
  • Exhibits tact, consideration, and patience in difficult situations
  • Interacts and communicates clearly with coworkers, clients and vendors in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Approaches sudden, unexpected challenges effectively with confidence
  • Appropriately and accurately orders required materials
  • Direct all trades to achieve completion of scheduled tasks on time and in conformance with plans, specifications and scopes of work
  • Understand of inspection requirements and preparation of homes for inspection
  • Managing all nine customer meetings
  • Maintain an organized job site including the construction office

Job Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Prior residential construction experience helpful
  • Valid Driver’s License
